PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND TARGET AUDIENCE
“Injury is the leading cause of death in the United States and continues to occur every day and in every State of our Nation.” Some of the statistics include, “Traumatic injuries are estimated to be responsible for over 161,000 deaths each year and for an estimated death rate of 5.9 for every 100,000 persons. Trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans 35 years of age and younger, and for U.S. residents, unintentional injury ranks as the 5th most common cause of death.”1

In the State of Missouri, “unintentional injury” was the number one cause of death for ages 1 to 44 in 2005 with “unintentional injury” being the 5th most common cause of death in the state for all ages combined. 2

This conference is designed to enhance the multi-disciplinary team approach and continuing professional development to effectively manage the trauma or emergent patient. It is the goal of the multi-disciplinary team to provide the best care in order to facilitate the best possible recovery and patient outcomes. 

This conference is for the multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, pre-hospital, respiratory therapists, hospital chaplains, and all other healthcare personnel working with this patient population.

  • Describe certain differences with pateitns who suffer injuries in the marine environment.

This program has been deemed appropriate for chaplains to list 7.5 contact hours of continuing education credit. Credit should be listed on the Association of Professional Chaplains Annual Summary of Continuing Education Hours Form in the area of “Workshops/Conferences/Seminars/Symposia.”

Cancellations received in writing to EducationCenter@coxcollege.edu by May 13, 2013 will be entitled to a full refund. After this time, a $25 processing fee will be withheld. No refunds will be made the day of the conference. No shows will be charged the full conference fee. 

In the event the Education Center cancels or reschedules a course, participants are entitled to a full refund or the participant may transfer registration to the next scheduled activity.

CoxHealth is not responsible for travel, hotel, booking fees, or other cancellation fees for registrants when an activity is cancelled.

All refunds must be received in writing via email or by calling the Education Center.
